Melamine powder is a triazine nitrogen heterocyclic organic compound, which is used as chemical raw material. Slightly soluble in water.
Melamine is weakly alkaline and can react with various acids to form melamine salt. In case of hydrolysis of strong acid or strong alkali aqueous solution, the amino group is gradually replaced by hydroxyl group, and first forms cyanuric acid diamine, which is further hydrolyzed to form cyanuric acid monoamide, and finally forms cyanuric acid.
Use of melamine
Melamine is the raw material for manufacturing melamine formaldehyde resin (melamine plastic). This resin is also sometimes called melamine, and is used to manufacture household utensils, decorative veneer, fabric finishing agent, etc.
Melamine can also be used as a paper treatment agent with ether, as a cross-linking agent in some coatings, and as a flame retardant chemical treatment agent.
Melamine is not a food additive and can only be used in industry.
Its main uses are as follows:
(1) Decorative panel: It can be made into fireproof, anti-seismic and heat-resistant laminates, colorful, solid and heat-resistant decorative panels, and used as veneers for aircraft, ships and furniture, as well as fireproof, anti-seismic and heat-resistant house decoration materials.
(2) Paint: After etherification with butanol and methanol, it can be used as a binder for advanced thermosetting paint and solid powder paint, and can be used to make metal paint and high-grade amino resin decorative paint for vehicles and electrical appliances.
(3) Molded powder: melamine plastic can be made through mixing, granulation and other processes, which is non-toxic, anti pollution, and can still maintain good electrical performance when wet. It can be made into white, impact resistant household utensils, sanitary ware, porcelain like tableware, electrical equipment and other advanced insulating materials.
(4) Paper: It can be used as a paper processing agent to produce high-quality paper such as wrinkle resistant, shrink resistant, non rotting banknotes and military maps.
(5) Melamine formaldehyde resin mixed with other raw materials can also produce fabric finishing agent, leather tanning and wetting agent, polishing agent and water resistant agent, rubber adhesive, combustion promoter, high-efficiency cement water reducer, steel desalinator, etc.
(6) Agriculture: In agriculture, melamine is added to chemical fertilizers.
The consumption market of melamine is mainly concentrated in wood processing, decorative panels, coatings, molding plastics, paper, textiles, leather and other industries, of which the wood processing industry accounts for 56% of the total domestic consumption. In addition, about 50% of China melamine is exported to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, Italy and other countries.
