Melamine Moulding Compound Powder (MMCP) – Usage Instructions
1. Material Preparation
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place (<30°C) away from moisture and direct sunlight. Use sealed containers to prevent contamination.
Pre-drying: If moisture absorption exceeds 0.2%, dry at 60–80°C for 2–4 hours before use.
2. Molding Process
Compression Molding:
Temperature: 140–160°C
Pressure: 20–30 MPa
Curing Time: 30–60 seconds/mm thickness
Injection Molding:
Barrel Temperature: 70–90°C (feed zone) → 120–150°C (nozzle)
Mold Temperature: 150–170°C
Injection Pressure: 80–120 MPa
3. Safety & Compliance
Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow to disperse formaldehyde emissions during curing.
PPE: Wear heat-resistant gloves, goggles, and masks when handling hot molds or raw powder.
Food-Contact Use: Only FDA/EU-compliant MMCP grades are suitable for tableware.
4. Post-Processing & Quality Control
Deflashing: Remove excess material mechanically or via tumbling.
Testing: Verify hardness (Rockwell M scale), heat resistance (up to 120°C), and flame retardancy (UL94 V-0 rating).
5. Troubleshooting
Surface Defects: Adjust mold temperature or clamping force.
Brittleness: Optimize curing time or material formulation.
